When we are truly relaxed, our brain activity slows from the rapid patterns of Beta into the more gentle waves of Alpha. Our awareness expands.
1. Alpha waves are normally associated with our attention turned inwards…in a non-anxious sort of way ! Alpha waves range between 7-12 HZ.
Beta is associated with attention focused on external sensory process ( sight, hearing, touch etc.). Beta waves range between 13-40 HZ.
Beta causes a variety of stresses. Alpha is relaxing and soothing.
During alpha condition, our attention is away from the senses that pick up signals from the outside world.
Witness attitude or ‘detachment’ is possible with the practice of living in alpha condition.
How to live in alpha ?
The Alpha state is possible by de-focusing one's attention. Alpha waves are naturally produced by the brain, when you relax. In this relaxation you are alert, but not drowsy or sleepy.
