IPL in South Africa

Last year was the first year of Indian Premier League …Twenty 20 Cricket !
Millions of Indians were glued to their TV sets !
This year the IPL 2009 has shifted to South Africa.

Though the drama and passion is still in tact….somehow….the fever of last year is missing…. ( do you agree ? )

Wise pundits  analysts have given different reasons….whereas the TV sponsors are maintaining that this year is a bigger success !

Fact still remains….this year the TV audience in India is not hyped up !
Maybe the reasons are not far to find:

‘Out of sight-Out of mind’ syndrome.

The vanity and newness of the format has gone….which was present  in the inaugural year.

The grounds and pitches in south Africa ….maybe….are not conducive to relentless hitting ! ( There are lesser sixes )

Big guns are not firing…. Big names and huge payments have disappointed….to say the least ! ( Barring a few old-timers from Australia and south Africa)

Election fever in India…that has hogged the TV prime time !

But…still…the magic of T20 magic is missing…
Where are the close finishes ?
Where are the cliff hangers ?

Or…do we need ten over matches now ???
