There was a recent report in a leading daily… that now children in class VII are being given a pre orientation coaching for IITs.( Prestigious Technological Training Institutes)

Imagine ! Childhood going out of the window ! And the culprit …it seems….is the need of parents and institutions…and the children are mere sacrificial lambs !!!

But the point we want to put across is not about coaching for careers….although that itself is a malady ….that has gripped our middle class wannabes…

….what we want to talk about is the fear of examinations !

Ah ! The pressure of Exams…

The cramming…the late nights….the guess papers !!!

Even media has joined the band wagon….as there are regular  newspaper articles….how to programs on TV and other innovative methods/tips  by which the ‘ever growing industry’ of examinations is being cashed !

Examinations are a dreaded monster…and every one wants to get rid …as quickly as possible!

It is seen as the only rational thing!

BUT….we can pause and give the whole thing a re-look !

Testing of knowledge, possibly, is the job of knowledge givers (schools)….but is that the only task ???
Is knowledge being given by schools and other institutions….or it is the testing of INFORMATION ABSORPTION that has been bombarded on young minds ?

Had it been a test of Knowledge ….That might have been the focus in the first place in the education system….we believe…there would not be  such a fever ….!!!
