Famous Indian tabla* maestro Zakir Hussain has won the Grammy award in the Contemporary World Music Album category for his collaborative album Global Drum Project.

Zakir Hussain shared the Grammy award with Mickey Hart, Sikiru Adepoju and Giovanni Hidalgo who were the members of Global Drum tour.

Mickey Hart is a percussionist and musicologist.
He is best known as one of the two drummersf rom the rock band the Grateful Dead.
He and fellow Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann earned the nickname "the rhythm devils".

This is what Mickey Hart said about the Global Drum Project:
"This is a deep drumming groove. We're taking the archaic rhythm worlds into outer space. The Global Drum Project explores rhythm and noise; it's a sound yoga of processed acoustic percussion headed straight for the trance zone that becomes a dance of ancient and modern worlds. Deep drumming is a skeleton key into these realms."
