I was taken aback by this question
     It was pertinent there is no question !
I racked my brain for an answer
       I looked and looked inside, but no answer !!

It was a child who had questioned
      Who is wise, certainly, unquestioned!
Then somehow this is how I answered
       And felt that all my doubts had been answered !!

But let me  first talk about the question
           And then I shall tell you the answer
“ What is ever-after” the small child asked
             and “Living Happily “ , please answer !

(I thought what a simple thing is this
       It is at the end of every story
Isn’t it a child’s play, to know
          Of bygone kings and their glory
   How could this child miss this simple thing
          Must be slow, of low intellect, Ah! Poor thing !)

(But it was then that I was taken aback
          When I fully understood the query
What if the story tellers lost the knack
        Of ending the tales on a note so merry !)

(What if the story went further down
         Along the road, into the ever after ?
Shall the kings queen and clown
    Still live happily  with their laughter ?)

(This is when  without any question
         Someone inside must’ve answered
    “ Ever after is not after but ever !”
            And I felt all my questions answered !)

Then this is how I replied
          To the child who had seen me tongue tied :

“ Ever after is the Here and Now”
       and by telling this I felt good somehow
       “It is not an end in any tale
             it is a writer’s way though very stale
       to bring the kings , queens and jack
     to a place, where they don’t look ahead, or back”
